Welcome to An Unscripted Future

Today our communities face leadership challenges and opportunities which bring an increased perception of personal responsibility and risk.

This is a time when each of us must exercise leadership to diagnose shifting situations and engage others in designing interventions that are less about achieving pre-defined outcomes, than they are about moving forward, collaboratively, toward approximate goals in an environment of increased, but managed, conflict and uncertainty.

These cycles of assessment/diagnosis, intervention and evaluation, within ever-shortening time horizons, are increasingly becoming the hallmark of our times and I welcome conversations about their impact on our lives.

Questions for the KCLI group

How can we determine each community leadership program’s needs and priorities for development? Can an on-line tool be developed to collect information to help us better understand the challenge before us and our potential for moving forward? Are we interested in moving through this process together? Are our aspirations consistent enough to create a common objective/direction?

I’m happy to help, even lead, a workgroup to create an assessment/diagnostic survey which will gauge interest in and readiness for a collaborative initiative like this. Or, perhaps, we might persuade the Kansas Health Foundation to release the results of the survey of our CLP's. If I am committed to raising my program's aspiration and performance, I'd like a base-line from which to measure my CLP's progress.

I will continue to blog, and invite other KCLI programs who want to share their favorite websites, ideas/interests/challenges and practices, to send their material to me. Or, if members prefer, we could create a collective site, for those who would like something specific to KCLI. I think the choice is ours and I look forward to hearing from the group.
